John Coleman
Founder & Co-Owner
John planted the first seeds of what would become Westwood Farms as a 15-year-old FFA project, raising 15 acres of sugar beet seed. Rooted in six generations of farming tradition, he built his career blending stewardship with innovation, guiding his family’s cooperative into a modern, diversified enterprise.
In 2023, John, his wife Liz, and their three adult children launched Westwood Farms as an independent venture, reflecting a shared vision for regenerative, intentional farming and a deep respect for heritage.
As an internal advisor, John focuses on farm management, long-term soil health, sustainability, and people-first leadership—mentoring the next generation while honoring a family legacy that continues to evolve.
Outside of work, John enjoys time with family and friends, exploring the landscapes that inspire his work through hiking, biking, traveling, and fly-fishing. Nature provides both restoration and inspiration, grounding his belief that good farming starts with good people and healthy soil.
