We grow Strata® for Indie Hops, the Oregon-based hop developer and supplier who launched this exciting new variety in 2018. Founded by craft beer enthusiasts, Indie Hops is focused on breeding new cultivars that help brewers captivate beer lovers. We share their passion for advancing the future of hops.
Yakima Chief Hops
We grow Citra®, Mosaic®, and Talus® for Yakima Chief Hops — a grower-owned hop supplier that connects family farms like ours to brewers around the world. Their commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation aligns closely with our values.
Yakima Chief Ranches
Yakima Chief Ranches supports its grower partners by providing tools and programs for operational and leadership development, such as the Return to Grower program for facility investment and the Next Generation Program for future leaders. They also offer high-quality, disease-resistant hop varieties through their Hop Breeding Company partnership and provide propagation services to ensure healthy plants and high-quality harvests. Additionally, they handle post-harvest logistics and offer a Green Chief® program to promote sustainability and quality in farming practices.
Barley Partners
Linc Malt
LINC Malt works with growers by acting as a direct partner in a farmer-owned cooperative to create new regional markets for their high-value grains, focusing on identifying specific varietals and farm sources to produce craft malt with unique, local flavors for brewers and distillers in the Inland Northwest. They achieve this through direct relationships, sourcing specific barley types for their distinct characters, tracking grain lots to tell the story of the farm and its land, and promoting a sense of place in their malt.
Hazelnut Partners
George Packing Company
George Packing Co.’s fruitful partnership, which started more than 27 years ago with our first traditional hazelnut processing plant, provides Northwest filbert growers with the highest quality service. This commitment includes providing our partners with a range of resources to help them grow the world’s finest hazelnuts. From how to choose a new planting to sustainable, affordable and healthy orchard clean-up, count on George Packing Company for assistance in producing rich, flavorful Northwest hazelnuts to sell to food purveyors around the world.
Research Partners
Research on the Effects of Wildfire Smoke on Hop Quality with Oregon State University’s Dept. of Food Science and Technology
As wildfires become increasingly common in Oregon, we’ve been working with Dr. Cade Jobe and OSU to better understand how wildfire smoke impacts the delicate flavors and aromas hops provide. By studying these effects, we can help protect Oregon’s hop industry.
Weed Management Trials with Oregon State University’s Department of Horticulture
We’re working with Dr. Marcelo Moretti to advance more efficient land cultivation solutions, from novel electric weed control to evaluating new chemistries for weed suppression.
Research on Native Cover Crops and Basalt Application in Hazelnut Orchards with University of Oregon’s Dept. of Biology & Environmental Studies
We’ve partnered with Dr. Lauren Hallet and UO to develop native cover crop techniques that prevent habitat loss, erosion, and increased chemical use from standard soil maintenance methods in Oregon’s hazelnut orchards.
Conservation Partners
Salmon-Safe
We are certified by Salmon-Safe, an organization that works to protect and restore Pacific Northwest watersheds through ecologically sustainable land management. This certification recognizes our ongoing efforts to steward healthy ecosystems and support native wildlife.
Natural Resources Conservation Service
For nearly a century, we’ve partnered with producers to invest in working lands and rural communities, strengthening agricultural resilience, protecting natural resources, and supporting thriving local economies. We’re grateful to NRCS for their continued support in helping us steward the land and invest in Westwood Farms’ long-term vitality. Their shared commitment to working lands and voluntary conservation has been key to shaping our future.
Green Chief®
Green Chief® is a grower-led best practices program, developed in partnership with Yakima Chief Ranches, that promotes sustainability, quality, and traceability across more than 25 farms.
